A society is at its end when more and more people can hardly or no longer afford the basic need of housing. For a long time, California was seen as the great role model. Almost twice the GNP of Germany per inhabitant. Even today, there are fans of California who really manage to ignore the tent cities of the homeless. There is a way for the rich to ignore such conditions: "They are all inferior, lazy people who deserve their fate". There is a YouTube channel that shows how quickly people with the best education end up in a tent, a fate that can befall anyone in the USA: Invisible People.
It used to be a popular saying that Europe was 10 years behind the USA in terms of trends. This became a horror scenario. Where are the approaches to counteract this disastrous trend? Artificial scarcity of building land leads to absurdly high prices. The state of the construction industry is catastrophic, there is no approach to cost optimization. The prefabricated house industry is only facing its own demise without resistance, not the slightest willingness to do anything about it.
In politics, it is currently fashionable to regard humans as pests that need to be contained. In 1993, at the opening of the Environmental Film Days, I heard for the first time "Healthy planets have no people". This was spoken by the man who prevented the first GEMINI habitable solar power plant from being built in Vienna in 1994. This is not openly stated, but is a wide-spread philosophy in the background. This must be replaced by the philosophy of civilizational tasks. No single initiative can help against all this, but only a comprehensive new philosophy to see humanity differently and solve the problems in the long term. The entire front line must be held against ideas that are hostile to survival.
Detached houses are evil because so much space and energy is wasted. No, this house produces an enormous amount of energy and should alone represent 2/3 of a functioning energy transition. Large apartment blocks use less material per square meter of living space. No, this house has significantly less material expenditure per square meter of living space and can pay back the energy used to produce the material expenditure very quickly. Condensed cities, everything only with public transport! What's the problem if electric cars are charged with 10% of the electricity produced by a GEMINI next generation house? Stop rezoning to building land! We need the farmland! Seriously? Arable land where maize is grown for biogas with a yield of 17 MWh of electricity per hectare, where an optimized settlement would have a yield of 850 MWh per hectare and significantly more biodiversity? Soil sealing! We must stop soil sealing! Wrong, there is also negative soil sealing if a built-up area can absorb more rainwater than a meadow. Net zero emissions and everything will be fine again! Wrong, the IPCC report constantly contradicts itself on this claim. We need a planetary clean-up back to 350 ppm CO2.
What prospects for the future can children of today be given? The majority of society only mentions extremely negative images of the future. Even when it comes to housing, a central need for everyone. The search query "housing in Germany" only brings up disaster reports in the search results. The problems can no longer be solved using conventional methods. Completely new approaches are needed. If you support these completely new ways of thinking by buying shares, then in a few years' time you will not only be able to say "I contributed to this", but you will probably also be able to look back on a considerable increase in the value of these shares.
